Product Management Is…

Introducing the beaten horse, but this is my current thinking on how to define product management.

Product management is…

one part listening, one part thinking and one part storytelling.

The only real change is the storytelling component. Comments?

There may be room for a bullfighting component as well. I’ll have to stew on these parts a bit. Still seems to be missing something.

Missing something or maybe just only works for me because this is where I am right now.

How about observant of the past but conversant of the future.

Didn’t really like the storytelling addition.  Found it struck me in a negative way. I want my constituents to believe me unlike a politician.

Maybe, but I find my self repeating this phrase “tell our story”

Somehow, this alternate version immediately came to mind:
“product management is one half listening, one half thinking and another half storytelling”.
I know it doesn’t read as well as it should but Yogi would be proud.
